terms of use
the agreement for listening, recording and leaving work in this public archive.
who and what
these terms are an agreement between you and Prateek Panwar, trading as if this finds you; india for use of if this finds you. the service is a public archive of short, browser-recorded voice notes addressed to first names, with optional cover marks, search and readable archive pages. it is not a private messaging or guaranteed-delivery service.
you must be at least 18. if you do not meet that age, do not submit a recording or other content. listening does not require an account.
public means public
a qualifying submission may become publicly playable, associated with the recipient name you entered, searchable, linked from archive, recipient and theme pages, shared by other people, accessible internationally, and indexed or cached by search engines and other third parties. we do not intentionally display the submitter's identity, but the recording itself is public. your voice, background sounds, and things you say may identify you or somebody else.
a page such as /to/alex means only that recordings were submitted as addressed to someone called alex. it does not identify one particular alex, verify a recipient, show consent, prove delivery, or imply authorship or endorsement. we do not promise that the person you had in mind will visit, hear, recognise, or respond to a recording.
what you promise
when submitting, you confirm in good faith that:
- you meet the minimum age and are legally able to accept these terms;
- you made the submitted recording for this submission and are allowed to submit every part of it;
- you have permissions that applicable law requires for identifiable voices belonging to other people;
- you are not publishing a secretly obtained private conversation without legally required permission;
- the submission does not unlawfully infringe copyright, privacy, publicity or other rights;
- you are not unlawfully impersonating someone or deliberately exposing prohibited personal information;
- the submission follows the community guidelines and applicable law.
these are reasonable assurances about what you know and control, not a demand that you guarantee every uncertain legal question in every country.
your work, our licence
your voice, identity, recording, original cover art and other original work remain yours to the extent you own them. leaving a recording does not transfer ownership of your voice or identity to us.
you grant the operator a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, encode, transcode, compress, stream, publicly perform, publicly display, distribute, cache, make technical copies and technical adaptations, create share previews or thumbnails, process, transcribe, moderate, classify and make the submission searchable as reasonably needed to operate, protect, distribute and explain the service. this includes placing it in archive, recipient, theme and recording pages, using content-delivery services, allowing search-engine access, and maintaining operational backups. the operator may sublicense these rights only to service providers and technical distribution partners as needed to provide those functions.
the licence includes showing a recording in ordinary, contextual promotion of this archive—for example a service page or social preview. it does not grant a general right to sell your recording, license your voice to unrelated third parties, or place a specific intimate recording in a paid ad, brand campaign, film, book, exhibition or commercial compilation outside the normal service context. that kind of direct exploitation requires a separate permission where appropriate.
voice and ai
an ordinary submission does not give us permission to clone your voice, make a voice model that represents you, synthesise an impersonation, or imply your endorsement. we may use automated systems to transcribe, screen personal information, detect abuse, classify safety signals and organise search as described in the privacy notice. we do not use submissions or transcripts to train unrelated general-purpose ai models. changing that boundary would require a separate product, privacy and legal decision; this version does not grant that right.
moderation
we may reject, delay, hold, restrict, deindex, suppress a transcript, disable playback, investigate, remove, restore or escalate content when reasonably needed for the guidelines, safety, rights, security or law. automated systems can be wrong; human review can be wrong; publication is not an endorsement. a report is a signal for review, not proof that content is unlawful. we do not promise that every harmful recording will be found before publication or that every report will produce removal.
withdrawal and availability
when the service accepts a submission it gives the browser one private withdrawal link. only a hash of its secret is kept, so it cannot be reissued. using a valid link withdraws the recording from public access and schedules stored audio for deletion. reports, privacy requests, valid rights complaints, legal requirements and security needs can also lead to restriction or removal.
removal from our systems does not command browsers, search engines, web archives, recipients or other third parties to erase independent or cached copies. backups may retain protected copies for a limited cycle or where law requires preservation. we still act on valid removal obligations in systems we control.
the service is provided as available. we do not promise uninterrupted operation, perfect moderation, perfect transcripts, exact search results, permanent storage, permanent features, perfect security or perpetual access. features, processors, storage arrangements and pricing may change; paid features, sponsorship or advertising may be introduced later under any additional terms required at that time.
user content and wellbeing
recordings are statements of their submitters, not the operator. we do not author, adopt, endorse or ordinarily verify them as fact. they may be inaccurate, offensive or upsetting. this service is not therapy, medical or legal advice, crisis intervention, or an emergency channel. do not use it to contact police, medical services or anyone needed for imminent danger.
responsibility
to the extent permitted by law, the service is supplied without implied promises beyond those that cannot lawfully be excluded. the operator is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss caused by service interruption, unavailable content, reliance on unverified user content, or third-party acts where applicable law permits that exclusion. nothing here excludes liability or consumer rights that law does not allow us to exclude, including responsibility that cannot be waived for fraud, wilful misconduct, negligence, statutory duty or other non-waivable matters.
to the extent permitted by law, you will reasonably indemnify the operator against third-party claims and direct costs caused by your unlawful submission, infringement, violation of another person's rights, material breach of these terms or deliberate misuse of the service. this does not cover losses caused by the operator, impose liability prohibited by law, or remove a court's power to assess causation and reasonableness.
law and change
these terms are governed by the laws of india. subject to non-waivable consumer and statutory rights, no exclusive court is designated here beyond the forums available under applicable law. this court clause, the indemnity and liability language require review for the launch operator and are not intended to override rights a person cannot waive.
minor clarifications may be published with a new update date. a material change affecting rights or data use receives a new version and appropriate notice, and operates prospectively unless law permits and fairness supports otherwise. each submission records the terms, privacy notice and guidelines accepted at that time. a future right not granted by that version requires new permission or exclusion of older work.
to the extent permitted by law, this agreement and the service may move to an affiliate, successor, reorganised entity or purchaser responsible for the service. a material operator change receives a new legal version and appropriate notice or fresh acceptance where required; it does not silently rewrite the agreement attached to an older submission.
